I was born and raised in Crete, Nebraska on my family farm in the rolling hills of Saline County. I graduated with a B.F.A. degree from the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 1980. I later attended Columbia University in New York City and earned a M.S. degree in Library and Information Science in 1984. I worked for many years as a librarian for various engineering and science-related companies in the Denver area. During this time I began painting portraits on a commission basis, started my series of still life paintings, and began exhibiting and showing my work nationally. I now work full-time as an artist in my southeast Denver studio creating pastels, paintings and drawings. I began working with pastels the summer of 2009 and am completely absorbed and delighted with their feel, handling and effects. I’m now working on a large series of western landscapes in pastel, featuring locations in Utah, Wyoming and Colorado.
